Dennis Vrooman’s distinguished 37-year career in law enforcement culminated in his role as the Undersheriff of Riverside County, where he served as the second in command of one of the largest sheriff’s offices in the nation, overseeing more than 4,000 dedicated men and women. His career journey began at the Downey Police Department, where he honed his skills as a law enforcement officer. In 1992, Dennis transitioned to the Murrieta Police Department, where he continued to develop his leadership and operational expertise. Finally, in 2018, he joined the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, bringing with him decades of experience and a wealth of knowledge that proved invaluable to the department’s operations.
 

Dennis’s extensive administrative experience has been a hallmark of his career. In his role as Undersheriff, he managed the department’s enormous $850 million budget, ensuring that resources were allocated effectively to support the safety and security of the community. His leadership extended beyond financial management, as he also spearheaded several multi-million dollar capital improvement projects that enhanced the department’s infrastructure and capabilities. These projects were critical in modernizing facilities, improving technology, and expanding services to meet the growing needs of Riverside County.

 

In addition to his administrative roles, Dennis has been deeply involved in labor relations, gaining experience on both sides of the table. His work in this area allowed him to navigate the complexities of union negotiations and employee relations, ensuring that the needs of both the department and its employees were met. His balanced approach to labor relations earned him respect from his peers and subordinates alike, as he consistently worked to foster a positive and productive work environment.

Beyond his direct law enforcement responsibilities, Dennis has been committed to giving back to the community. He has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations, contributing his expertise and leadership to causes that align with his values of public service and community betterment. His involvement in these organizations reflects his deep commitment to making a positive impact both within and outside of his professional career.

For over two decades, Dennis has been an educator, sharing his knowledge and experience with others in the law enforcement community. As an instructor, he has taught a wide range of topics, including internal affairs, supervision and leadership, organizational workplace audits, and background investigations. His teaching has not only helped shape the next generation of law enforcement leaders but has also contributed to raising the standards of professionalism and accountability within the field.

Dennis’s academic credentials further bolster his leadership profile. He holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership, providing him with a deep understanding of effective leadership practices and strategies for managing large organizations. Additionally, Dennis is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, an elite program that provides advanced leadership and investigative training to senior law enforcement officials from around the world. His participation in this program underscores his commitment to professional development and his desire to continually improve his leadership capabilities.

Doug brings 27 years of investigative expertise from the Los Angeles Police Department, retiring from the Major Crimes Division with a broad experience in handling high-profile cases such as homicides, cyber crimes, and more. His career highlights include specialized skills in infrastructure security and event threat analysis for major events like the Oscars and Grammy Awards. Doug now leads Virtual Cyber Cop, focusing on cyber crime solutions.
