Jason Corey is a 30-year veteran of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. Over 17 of those 30 years have been dedicated to conducting complex criminal investigations. His career began in 1995 as a correctional deputy before becoming a sworn peace officer in 1999. From 1999 to April 2007, he worked in patrol operations at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station. In April 2007, he was promoted to the rank of investigator and assigned to the Moreno Valley Station, where he focused on violent crimes and Sexual Assault/Child Abuse (SACA) cases.
In August 2008, Corey was transferred to the Central Homicide Unit, where he spent eight years. During this time, he worked on over 200 homicide cases and over 30 officer-involved shootings, serving as either the primary, secondary, or crime scene investigator. He was promoted to Master Investigator during his tenure in the homicide unit. In November 2016, he transitioned from the homicide unit to the Criminal Intelligence Unit, conducting covert surveillance operations on criminal gangs in Riverside County and Southern California.
In 2018, Corey returned to the Jurupa Valley Station as one of three Master Investigators assigned to the investigations bureau. He resumed conducting SACA investigations and mentoring new investigators. In 2020, he was transferred to the Professional Standards Bureau.
By 2021, Corey was assigned to the Riverside County Regional Cold Case Homicide Team, where he utilizes traditional investigative methods and advanced technologies, such as Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy, to identify unidentified homicide victims and suspects.

His expertise in both overt and covert tactics underscores his versatility and skill in handling high-risk assignments.
Corey demonstrated strong leadership throughout his service, mentoring new investigators and serving as one of three Master Investigators at the Jurupa Valley Station’s Investigations Bureau. His contributions included training law enforcement personnel, guiding complex casework, and developing innovative strategies in cold-case homicide investigations through advanced forensic methods.
