Wheeler has been entrusted with leading units such as the Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit and the Grand Theft Auto Unit, where he supervised detectives and navigated high-stakes, emotionally complex cases with diligence and expertise.
In addition to his investigative achievements, Wheeler’s leadership is underscored by his long-standing role as an Adjunct Instructor for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Basic Academy. Over 22 years, he has trained hundreds of recruits in areas such as crimes against persons, missing persons investigations, and interactions with disabled communities, equipping new officers with critical skills and ethical foundations for their careers. His career highlights include specialized skills in infrastructure security and event threat analysis for major events like the Oscars and Grammy Awards. Doug now leads Virtual Cyber Cop, focusing on cyber crime solutions.
