Investigator
Steven Webber is a retired Special Agent with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), bringing nearly three decades of experience in public safety, fugitive apprehension, and internal investigations. His most recent assignment was with the Office of Internal Affairs, where he investigated administrative and criminal misconduct among departmental staff, preparing detailed reports for prosecutorial and disciplinary review, and providing testimony in various judicial settings
From 2016 to 2022, Webber was part of CDCR’s elite Special Service Unit, focusing on tracking and apprehending fugitives wanted for violent crimes, conducting gang-related investigations both inside and outside of correctional facilities, and managing high-risk operations. His deep expertise in tracking individuals who deliberately evade detection was further demonstrated through his cross-swearing with the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Department of Homeland Security
Previously, he served as a Parole Agent and Assistant Unit Supervisor, overseeing GPS monitoring of high-risk sex offenders and gang members, supervising task forces, and coordinating inter-agency operations. Webber’s career began at the California Institution for Men, where he served as a Correctional Officer and Sergeant, and distinguished himself as a Range Master and Tactical Instructor.
He is a recipient of the CDCR Silver Star Medal and a Unit Citation, highlighting his exceptional service. Known for his expertise in surveillance, apprehension, and gang suppression, Webber is a proven leader in operations requiring precision, discretion, and persistence in locating individuals who do not want to be found.
